Don’t Shine Laser Light At Aircraft – Message from CAAS
I got this letter in my post today, which is a message from CAAS – Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore and I thought it would be good to share this information with everyone out here. Not sure how good the picture quality will come-up here, so writing the text of the letter “as-is” here.
Shining a laser light at an aircraft presents a hazard to the safety of the flight, putting lives at risk.
A laser light shone into an aircraft cockpit could cause discomfort, distract or even confuse the pilots. In more severe cases, the pilots may experience temporary flash blindness or even injure their eyes, which could lead to them being incapacitated and thus not being able to carry out their duties. This could endanger the flight, those onboard and people on the ground.
Please refrain from such activities and do advise any persons seen to be involved in such an act to stop.
Let’s keep our skies safe.
In my opinion, this is a great initiative by CAAS and could be first such initiative globally to educate general public about safety and not to indulge in any such fun activity.
Reason of my post is to spread awareness of this great initiative. Please share with your network and contribute in keeping our skies safe!
